Off a cobblestone lane in the centro storico, behind a facade that gives nothing away, Atelier L'Étoile has been making leather bags by hand for decades. Ginevra Gangemi founded it. After years working across the fashion and leather goods world, she built a space governed by one principle: that she would still select every hide herself. This five-hour experience takes you through the complete arc of an object, from the library of leathers, where you choose your skin by colour, texture, and the way it drinks the light, through the cutting of the pattern, the stitching with Master Antonio, and the ceremonial presentation of the finished piece. You do this with your hands. You walk out carrying something you made. That weight is not metaphorical.

Ginevra Gangemi
Ginevra Gangemi has spent decades in the fashion and leather goods world, and has channelled that entire career into Atelier L'Étoile, her studio on Via di Monserrato in the heart of Rome. She personally selects the raw materials for every piece and oversees its creation from first cut to final stitch. Her practice is guided by a single principle: that an object made by hand carries something no machine can manufacture, the trace of a decision, repeated at every stage. She does not follow trends. She follows the leather. What makes her rare in the contemporary luxury landscape is not the quality of her materials alone, though they are exceptional, but the directness of her process and the patience she brings to teaching it to someone who has never held a leather knife before.
